The HOTEL
The history of Synaya is closely tied to that of Sanary-sur-Mer. Like many other establishments in the region, Synaya has its roots in local hospitality, which began to flourish in the early 20th century. During this time, Sanary became a popular destination for artists, writers, and intellectuals, including many German and Austrian refugees fleeing the Nazi regime in the 1930s. The town became a true haven for this exiled community, leaving a lasting mark on its cultural history.
Over the decades, Synaya has adapted to the evolution of tourism, transitioning from a simple guesthouse to a more refined hotel, while preserving the authentic charm of the region and offering modern amenities. The name "Synaya" might be inspired by Provençal or Romanian origins, though this remains speculative.
Our hotel has 11 rooms* with a pool and garden. We are ideally located just 200 meters from the beautiful Portissol cove and an 8-minute walk from the port.
